Win or lose, close game or we get clobbered, I wear my ECU hat daily. . . .

Some of my UC fans out here are SMILING when we talk college football, and SALIVATING on their upcoming football game the day after Thanksgiving when our Pirates roll in to town. Two of my grandsons go to UC and they are understandably the most acidic in these attacks, knowing what a faithful, hard core, die hard fan grandpa is for his Pirates. I have to remind them of two things:
1) Last year when UC was heavy favorites to beat ECU AND their network announcers kept referring to ECU as a "very bad team." We only beat them 48 - 20. Here's a big "ARGHH" THAT history repeats itself! I'll be there Pirate fans, along with my wife. Hope I leave that game excited!
2) Before either of my grandsons were born, and well into their "diaper years," ECU OWNED UC in football! They said that didn't happen. I told 'em BOTH to go check it out and give me a fulll report. Haven't heard back from them. Wonder why???

Here's a major concern about UC Pirate fans. They are just one of several universities who have blown right on by our Pirates football program the last few years or so. UCF, SF, VT, USM, Houston, UConn, and Temple are others that come to mind. Appy State is not that far behind us and may even be ahead of us right now. NC A&T beat us for Pete's sake. Sadly, several of these universities rose from the old 1 AA programs; Temple only had football to bridge the gap to basketball season; and VT football was on par with ECU until getting into the BE money conference.

Don't know about you, but I'm tiring with all of the finger pointing and name calling. 'Houston, we have a problem" and if it's gonna be fixed, we need to fix it. Stop calling a "flat tire" acceptable. If we can't fix it and/or have no money to fix it, then be honest with us and we can make our own decisions about our support for Pirate football. As for me, I'm a supporter. But please, stop telling me how good it all is when it ain't. Here's why:

Be what you is,
and ain't what you ain't;
'cause if you is what you ain't,
then you ain't what you is!
