I've always had a distant dream of wanting to see ECU Football crowned NCAA Football Champs. We were "in the ball park" after the 1991 season and the Peach Bowl win against The Cow Boys. Finished the season ranked #9! Then a few ups and downs in the pusuing years, which has led to a spiralling, out-of-control, downward trend of late. Mike Houston arrives!!! Yipeee!!! Like most, I don't want to be overly optomistic, but if it's gonna happen, it may well be on Coach Houston's watch!
Unfortunately, the NCAA landscape has changed tremendously since the inception of my dream. The P5 (which stands for PICK from the FIVE) teams continue to have a lock on the BCS games, proven by the failure to include an undefeated UCF team for the past two years. But hey, if ECU goes undefeated, wins a major second tier BCS Bowl, is the only undefeated major college football team when "all of the dust settles," is proclaimed "National Champs" in The State of NC, and follows that up with another undefeated season, I'll say "DREAM REALIZED AND EXCEEDED!"
BYB mates, if UCF can do it, we darn sure can with the right chemistry in our organization, the right coaches navigating our ship, and the right hand picked players carrying the load on the field of play. Even though UCF has a huge student body, ECU has so much more to offer in the sports arena. We're not in FL, but their boat stops right there! May we not overlook the fact that UCF was a 1aa program just a few years ago. So mates, my dream is achievable and it's not an overwhelming stretch in hoping that it happens.
