While definitely more attractive than most all of the non p5’s, are they
Valuable enough to be added to any of the remaining confs without decreasing the prior members take. After all, that is the thought process that is regularly applied to conf expansion talk.....
IF the B1G were to add Tex & OU, they would almost certainly be at their max capacity...... and even if they weren’t, who else adds enough value to the total pie to not reduce the individual pieces? Similarly, who out of TT, OSU, Kansas, WVU, and TCU would “help” the SEC enough to warrant adding them? I would submit that if any of them did, then they would already be there(see aTm).
On the ACC front.....WVU is the only one close to the footprint, but I’m not really sure that they meet the profile..... and would face an uphill battle considering their V.A. neighbors & possibly even Pitt wouldn’t back them. Not to mention the Carolina core of the conference loses power with each expansion, so I’d imagine they will double down on requiring a bigger net take at the end of the day.
That essentially leaves the PAC 10,12, whatever they are......... they surely aren’t adding WVU, I can’t see them wanting to make regular trips to Texas and Oklahoma, and the # of eyes added by most of the “attractive” schools listed would hardly tip the scales enough to warrant expanding the TV deal significantly.
