The cuts are a slightly different animal as the $20 mil is a drop in the
Bucket of the entire campus-wide budget on an annual basis..... and because state budgeting essentially consists of starting with p/y amounts, so the cuts are essentially perpetual UNLESS they’re specifically added back later.
But with that said, you are dead-on with your take in general. If I’m sitting in the General Assembly, the next time ECU starts to publicly criticize BSOM budget appropriation shortfalls, I would most definitely highlight the fact that ECUP looked to be generating enough free cash flow to help out with that. Right, wrong, or indifferent...... politically, the spin will be that we chose athletics over BSOM.
