I am not a big fan of UNC at all but that said, my UNC friends have...

always been very respectful toward me and our Pirates. I realize not everybody shares that experience.

I was at ECU 85-89 and I can look back and appreciate those years. I am thankful for my education and degree. My Dad is an NC State grad (played football in the late 50's under Earle Edwards) and my grandfather (Dad's Dad) is a Duke/Temple grad while my other Grandfather was an Appalachian State grad (played football in the 30s under Kidd Brewer-Mom's Dad) so you can imagine the fun in our household growing up. I have realized as I look back how connected we all are no matter if we are grads of ECU, State, Carolina, Duke, Wake, App St, Elon, Campbell, Davidson, etc. as we all have had family attend these colleges throughout the State of NC. So, good or bad blood, it is a tie that binds.

Living in Virginia since 1996, I have loved seeing the growth of ECU's influence in Northern VA, DC, and Maryland. No matter where I go for meetings or personal outings, If I am wearing the P&G, I get a shout out! It is very cool. Now my daughter gets to experience ECU as a 2nd generation Pirate. She wore her East Carolina sweatshirt proudly to her HS this morning (Washington Lee HS in Arlington VA). She tells me she gets shout outs at school as well.

Anyway, I am a proud Pirate and proud of my family heritage and happy to be contributing to the Out of State tuition costs at ECU for my daughter.
At least my wife and I got in state tuition for our son at Virginia Tech. haha :) Go Pirates!
