Getting worked up over projected brackets will make your hair fall out
Looking at projections will make your dang hair fall out. Folks projecting 4 from the Big 10, for instance. There is no freaking way a Nebraska should get an at-large bid as the 4th-place team in a (top-to-bottom) crappy baseball conference, but that's a lot more likely to happen than us getting 4 this year in the 5th-best conference. Really, based on true performance, the Big-10 should get Illinois and Indiana in, and no one else, though Michigan is likely, and the NCAA seems to go out of its way to make the Midwest relevant, even if it isn't.
Then there's the SEC. Holy crap. 13 of 14 have a shot to get in, with South Carolina being the only one most likely to stay home. What does that do to the rest of the field? That's an awful lot of at-large spots. I can see them getting 10 or 11, which would leave a couple of 40-RPI teams at home.
ACC looks like 5-7. Big-12 4-5. PAC-12 4-5. AAC 3-4.
That right there in those 6 conferences would account for 39 of the 64 spots. Given the conference champs' automatic bids, that can't happen, and a number of good teams are staying home.
