I won't comment on "learning disabilities."


That concept, and stigma, seems to be overused at this point. I guess you have to look at the research and data on what is defined as average intellect and IQ, versus what is highly intellectual, versus a disability. If you have a disability, or you can get diagnosed with one, then that opens up a certain door that others cannot get opened.

I have seen it work in both directions. Those with legitimate disabilities, and those that get diagnosed with them for the purposes of gaining a benefit which they cannot get otherwise via the normal process.
