Good points

It is hard going game to game with each one being a measuring stick. I believe when we look back on this season, regardless of what our record is, this win over ODU will be seen as key. We all know how we would be feeling if we had lost Saturday, and we all know our message boards would have been in meltdown mode. The harsh reality for me is that this game with ODU, even given their respectable efforts at VT and UVA, really puts into perspective how far we fell and how hard and tough it is and will be to get back. ODU has one P5 win ever, while our history includes so many. Yet, here we are, remembering our game with them last year and now this year, knowing we are barely better than them now.

I don't put the loss to State in the same category as the Navy loss. The State loss was not as bad as the score indicated, and we fought hard all the way. With the Navy game, we just did not have the same effort. Whether it was the sudden loss of Pinnix or just being on the road at Navy, we did not have our best intensity.

Temple embarrassed us again last year. It was hard to watch. I love that we have the home crowd on a Thursday night, although I understand it makes it hard for some to attend. We don't have a shortage of fans (as we graduate 6-7,000 each year now), but we do have a challenge with our tortured recent past to attract the casual fan. I agree a great effort vs. Temple is needed and is key.
