There are any number of reasons the charges might have been dropped, but

That doesn't necessarily translate into "they didn't do it." I may be wrong, but my memory is they pretty much admitted to doing what they were accused of (breaking into cars), but they claimed they didn't take anything. Nonetheless, they did get arrested and brought about a lot of negative publicity for ECU and themselves. Coach has said that to represent ECU you have to hold yourself to a higher standard, so there may very well be some internal punishment within the football program. I have no idea whether they will be reinstated this season or not and do not have strong feelings one way or the other. I suspect some of that may be determined by how much the coach believes they recognize their errors.
