It is a legitimate argument created by the conferences and ESPN that didn't

occur until about 20 years ago. A place like Wake Forest getting $27,000,000 a year for the sports rights, and the players don't get a penny. And that $27,000,000 is tax free. Please.
The idea is to allow someone to pay for sponsorships, name, and likeness if they sell a jersey or put their name in a video game.
It will end up with all the money going to high school recruits. I want a Trevor Lawerence to be the new face of Trade Mart or Golden Corral, and I'm going to pay him $50,000 to come to ECU. Of course, Murphy Farms will offer $75,000. Then he gets here and Houston benches him and plays Holton Ahlers, who only got a car as the new face of Hastings Ford. Trade Mart will be pissed.
The bidding war for a Zion Williams would be astronomical.
It will be uncontrollable. And all of this money will be taxable. If you accept a meal as a business expense, it is a taxable item. It would take a lot of meals to be a concern, but giving a kid a car, that has to be reported. And that will happen a lot. I envision every car dealer in the country, who is a big sports fan of a big school to be giving cars.
The IRS is going to arrest some kid for tax evasion just before the Texas / Oklahoma game. Most likely an Oklahoma QB by and Texas-based IRS agent.
For all of us on the outside of the cartel, it will be fun to watch. Most of our kids wouldn't get squat.
I believe it will blow up in their faces. Good!!!!!!
