Interesting as I hear the opposite from folks I know in VA and..

NC. Guess it all depends on who people know and their loyalties or perceptions. 6 kids applied from out of state in Arlington VA from my daughters HS (Washington Lee High School-Top 2% in the USA) to ECU and 1 was accepted. My daughter. She had excellent grades, SAT, etc. Had her choice of 5 other colleges and scholarships in VA as well including JMU, VCU, George Mason, Radford, and Marymount. She picked ECU on her own.
