ECU troubles are many and too big to solve in one post. That being said if you looked at how we performed against AAC programs there are signs of progress. Under Coach Mo our D gave up 308 points. Under Coach Houston we gave up more at 333. Despite having a defensive Coach in Ruff our D has never been as good as the offense since Skips departure.
On offense we scored 169 points under Mo and 221 under Coach Houston. This is a real good sign of progress considering all of our skill players were underclassmen. While Holton was very inconsistent starting the season he settled down and went from a career 50% passer to over 60%. We actually have depth in the skill positions and remain very young. Give this unit a better line and we should see a return to numbers we saw under Lincoln Reilly before HA graduates.
The defense on the other hand is another story. The saying goes defense wins championships and we clearly lack one and have for quite sometime. My hope is that we can become a bend don't break unit or one that can generate turnovers because you can't win with what we have put on the field,
