Over the season, we actually outscored 94 to 84 during the 4th quarters over the season. This doesn't mean we dominated the 4th quarter, but could be a result of other teams taking their foot off the pedal, playing 2nd and 3rd string players, running the clock out (running up the middle), etc. Out of our 12 games, we outscored our opponents in the 4th quarter 6 times while being outscored 4 times (NCSU, ODU, Cincinnati, and UCONN) and being tied in the 4th quarter twice (SMU and Tulsa).
Here is the total points by quarter:
ECU - 85, 76, 66, 94 = 321
Opponents - 108, 118, 94, 84 = 404
Our 3rd quarters were our lowest, but there was also a dip in our opponent's 3rd quarter points as well. Perhaps we made defensive adjustments at halftime, but our adjustments weren't as good as our opponent's adjustments. As you can see, the 4th quarter is the only quarter we won through the season, but please see above the reasons that probably happened.
