Saturday was fun, and heart warming! We were able to drive down and back

for the game, with a short stop at Parkers' (love the Brunswick stew and boiled potatoes, slaw and Q). Weather was unusually warm for January. Got parked and had a few minutes to walk around and soak up the fresh air! Walking from our parking spot to MInges there was a buzz, a feeling, an anticipation around us , that something was changing around basketball (we really hadn't dreamed of a win, a close competitive game was our meager wish). Once inside, the buzz increased in feeling with a lot of activity and hustling and bustling around by folks. We looked around at the new graphics and paint and improvements (missed out on the free coasters, dang it). Made our way to our seats to watch warm ups and settle in. As the game started we bolted out to a hot shooting first few minutes then the inevitable comeback by the superior Ponies. Then we started settling into our normal mindset of. "well, we were in the game until XYZ minutes in the first half". At intermission, went for concessions, and dang, a line at all the beer stations, so hey, sales were perking! (self confession, I don't drink). 2nd half starts and lo and behold, adjustments had been made and we start coming back, playing some serious D, hitting shots, and getting contributions from everyone checking into the game (including #25 Mr. Strickland!) Now, I'm saying, "we're in the game til the 12 min. mark, the 10, the 8, 6 and FINALLY, the 12 SECOND mark!!! When we hit that last trey from the corner, we hit a level of excitement not experienced since the CIT home games and Tourney! Even then, with 2.7 seconds left, I thought well, we've seen it before, please don't hit a miracle shot you Ponies! (cont in next post)
