Well there are (or at least were) about 125 degree programs . . .


that includes undergrad and grad offerings. I think the decisions to cut need to be made in the context of a review of the entire UNC system. Look at regional needs plus how and whether some other place is doing it better. Keep those programs that meet specific needs or are centers of obvious excellence. Start culling the rest starting with those producing the fewest FTE's. These type of exercises have occurred before but never really amounted much. But we've never had the financial urgency we have now either.
