All valid points..... and thank you for presenting them thoughtfully. Such

A mindset is why I provided the link above. The check goes to ECU, but it’s then immediately earmarked for directly covering the bills of the students involved. To me, that’s a way to avoid directly supporting something that you may or may not agree with, without bailing completely. And just for the record, this was a mindset I had long before this particular topic came up. I’ve long since ceased agreeing with many of the things we do..... but I do still believe in helping the kids that are coming through now. I didn’t bust my hind-end enough on the front-end to get much of that support myself...... but I know how much I hated writing those checks for years after I graduated.

My personal favorite is the Access Scholarship Program because it focuses on N.C. kids, that have had some success in the classroom (but not enough to rake in piles of traditional scholarships) and that are otherwise short on financial resources(but not short enough to qualify for the grants afforded those with the greatest need). This group is in ENC’s future imo.....

I believe you’re a fan of the Honors College and EC Scholars program if I remember correctly.......

Either way though, I’m by no means telling anyone to like what’s on the table........ (I don’t think that I will necessarily like the finished product, but I’m holding out to see what it is before I decide)...... I’m simply offering an alternative way to support the Pirates that need it and have nothing to do with the bigger picture complaint.
