You really can’t test out of it short term

If you really care, from exposure it takes time before a test will show a positive. It is usually 3-5 days but can be longer. So if someone gets exposed today, they can test negative 10 times the next day and it means nothing. Once you get to 5 days after exposure if you test negative there is a very high probability you don’t have it.

However most guidelines still say 10 days because of some rare instances where it may have taken that long to show as positive.
