Just an an FYI, when people were doing short sales......

and having their mortgages forgiven a few years back the congress passed a bill to make it tax free for a primary residence. I am sure they will do it if they do a loan forgiveness for college kids.
And I have had a couple of years I had to pay so much in taxes I set up payment plans. It works two ways. Either they set one up for you or you just pay what you can when they send you a new bill. As long as you pay they will just keep adding interest.
