Absolutely not. I feel MORE people should consider entering trades . .

including auto tech, HVAC, and others. I have a nephew whose a diesel tech. He's earning far more than I have did at the same age. Being a DIY guy I seldom pay for something I can learn to do but when I do employ someone I have no issue paying them a fair wage for quality work.
