Couple things of note.

Aresco is 100% correct when he says this about the playoff, “It isn’t a playoff. It’s a P5 invitational. A beauty contest.”

I would go further and say it’s now akin to WWC wrestling.

Also, this quote by the writer says it all. “Ultimately the decision to expand the playoff will not be made by the AFCA. The 10 FBS commissioners and Notre Dame would have to vote in favor of expansion. ”

The fact that ND gets a single vote with conference commissioners is astounding. Totally rigged system.

I’m glad to report that I didn’t watch a single fake P5 invitational game this year. I went skiing and fly fishing. It felt good.
