Not quite sure it's 'politics' but it is capitalism. Even in rural VA . . .


in the late '60's Notre Dame football with Lindsey Nelson was a Sunday TV staple. It was a one-hour condensation of Saturday's game. One of Nelson's stock lines was "now on to further action in the whatever quarter'. It seemed the Irish scored on every possession. It's still the largest fanbase in America. There's dollars to be made by keeping them relevant.
