Agree but Clemson has advantages that no G5 team comes close to....


They sell more season tickets - over 50,000 (and did when they were average) than the capacity of 90% of the G5 stadiums. And they regularly put over 80,000 in stadium for the games. No P5 team, even in their greatest success averages over 55,000 total. Their fan base goes back decades and generations. They were often, in the late 70's and early 80's, a top 10 team and won a national championship in 1981. Now there have been times where plenty of independent/non-BCS teams were better. But it would be very difficult for a G5 team to maintain that kind of support. Look at UCF. They have had a lot of success, more than any in G5. Here is their record and average attendance in the last 3 years (not counting this year with covid): 2017 13-0 36,846, 2018 12-1 44,018, 2019 10-3 43,788. Their stadium capacity is 45,301.
