Clemson had a much easier path in the ACC than Carolina in the SEC

I would agree that South Carolina shows even money and facilities is no guarantee of success in Football. Heck look at Tennessee who was ahead of the arms race curve when they built their 145,000 sqft training facility in 2013 complete with a Smokey's Sports Grill as their training table providing athletes with great meals whenever they wanted.

As for Clemson ? They caught lightning in a bottle with Dabo. It also shows how long it took them to recover from their National Championship in 1980 when the NCAA sanctioned them and then the ACC led by UNC AD decided to put additional penalties on them. It showed that Basketball was the priority to the ACC and the Good Ole Boy Club on Tobacco Road did not like the attention Clemson got winning a National Championship in Football . Once Clemson found Dabo they poured money into him and their facilities. As long as Dabo is at Clemson they will continue to be a machine with a new Top 5 recruiting class showing up every year. South Carolina on the other hand usually ranks around #20 in national recruiting class and maybe 7-8 in the SEC. You are not going to be in the playoff conversation with recruiting classes like that
