Cincy Pirate, slow board, want to ask about Reds

I see they're starting well. Im not a baseball nut, but loved and watched the Reds in the mid 70s and since. Big Red Machine. I got married in Oct 1990. We got to Jamaica and I walked in and saw Eric Davis hit a game 1 homer. Reds swept vaunted A"s.
All that to say this, not a lot to cheer about since. I have always figured, got to have great pitching in MLB, and Reds cant or wont pay.
So, is this a mirage, or can the Reds be good this year?
