Pitchers:
Kuchmaner, Saylor, Shenkman, Ginn.
Kuch: started game w/wristband and had a not so good inning giving up 2 runs on three hits. 2nd inn, no wristband w/Newton delivering calls. Kuch got quicker and better. 3rd inn… hello Kuch!! Two k’s and a foul out. He looked great. Old Kuch. I hope, at least for him, they ditch the wristband. He pitched quicker and was very efficient.
Saylor: Whoa. Lights out for 3 inn. He sat 91-92 and was devastating on the lefties with his breaking ball. Unhittable. He looked really good.
Shenkman: Big righty. Sat 92 on FB. Struggled a bit to fill the zone… couple walks, hit batter. My take first mound jitters. Nice breaking ball.
Ginn: 87-91. Seemed to be overthrowing at times. Gave up a RC bomb to Worrell. FB seemed not as juiced as last year. Just one scrimmage observation.
Now position players (who played):
1B: Moylan, Clonch, Cowart. A lot of size here. Moylan hit “5” bombs during batting practice w/90+ exit velocity on every hit. Trimmed down some. Looks a lot more athletic. Clonch and Cowart are long and athletic.
2B: CJ Boyd, AMack. Yep, AMack. Starling did hit but did not play.
3B: Agnos, Quinn, Zipay, Howard. Good defense by all today. Howard looks like the former Wichita State 3B. Legit 6-5. I think Brooks is going to be a pitcher only like Whisenhunt. Dressed but didn’t play today.
SS: Giles, Berini. Giles looked good at plate and solid as usual on D. Made really good contact every at bat… no K’s!
C: Newton, Wilcoxen, McCrystal, Edwards. Newton is solid. Really surprised by Wilcoxen. Strong arm. Power bat. Good defense. McCrystal has an impressive arm. Edwards can hit.
LF: Hoover, Rezek. Rezek with a laser from deep LC to throw out Ryley Johnson at 3rd on a tagup.
CF: Worrell, Nowak. Speed, speed, speed. Worrell is even more ripped. Nowak looks good at plate. Top end runner.
RF: Johnson, Cunningham. Ryley was 2-3 w/two doubles. Cunningham is legit 6-4/210. Another power lefty at plate. Strong arm.
A lot of coaching today. CG called out a few FR for numerous things. Be ready to play. Be ready to hit. Make an adjustment. No replay in fall ball…either you were hit or you weren’t (lol).
Overall… bigger, taller, stronger, deep pitching staff, many options on the field and at plate. Now, who steps up as the next Burleson???
