I think programs with winning traditions are where i would invest. I

think Marshall's football heritage would have been good for our conference. I like the fan base of App St and I think their win at Michigan is not forgotten by football fans nationwide. I like the upcoming school at Liberty. This place is growing like mad and they are invested. A huge Christian devotion and this school can be like a BYU. I also would have given serious consideration to ODU over Charlotte. Charlotte is certainly a bigger market, but Southside Hampton Roads is a large market as well. ODU was a commuter school forever and has really established itself. The alumni, students, and business community are really buying in. I don't know for sure, but i think Charlotte may be a bit behind the progress of ODU. ODU would have been a great partner for Navy and a regional rivalry with us. I am kind of worried Navy may seek another home if they have to travel west a lot. I know these seem like homer picks, but would have been much better football for the conference as a whole. I think the FAU selection can be favorable for the conference as well as UAB.
I would have rather seen CUSA and AAC merge with east and west schools and form a super conference for stability.
