It is very hard to have a good defense with an air raid

offense.

You score quickly, punt the ball back quickly, sustained drives aren’t very long due to the clock stopping on incomplete, and / or allow the team to run more plays giving the ball back to them quicker.

More pressure on your defense with them having to turn around quickly to play again / more often. The better defenses are typically on run heavy / more balanced offenses. Drives can be longer and opposing offenses typically have less plays on the field.
