A simple statement with tons of truth factored in.
For decades, we have put embarrassingly little effort into men’s basketball. Our limited success on the hardwood has developed mainly through osmosis associated with conference affiliations. And even though this is an important byproduct of our overall success, ECU must eliminate our decades old, non-working focuses in elevating BB to NCAA relevance. And we know that takes $$$$$.
It’s my hope that our current coach is the segue in this whole process. And if he pans out, hopefully the fans will go to the games, Minges will rock once again, and we’ll have the $$$$ to thwart off other cellar dwellers from taking him from us at a bargain salary.
It’s a lengthy, lethargic, legacy that must be overcome. A complete paradigm shift is in order in removing the old and bringing in the new, thereby achieving our long sought goals of recruits, revenue, & respect.
