Brakets are set for first day. There are 2, 4 team, double elimination
"tournaments". 1,4,5,8 is in one group, 2,3,6,7 is in the other groups. Once play starts on the first day on conference championship, there is NO crossing groupings. (Note - the new Highest Seed is always Home Team and bats last rule only applies against teams in your grouping, and with the two teams left standing on Sunday in the one game takes all.)
With the exception of the noted High Seed rule, which to my knowledge does not apply in NCAAs, that is how the seeding and brackets work in Omaha, with the championship being best 2 of 3 instead of one game winner takes all.
