Theres a really good article about this idea can't find it though

The article put old school scouts together with saber metric guys and neither could point to a tool or a stat that predicted "clutch".

The idea is that a good hitter is either a good hitter or he isn't.

He either comes up in spots with runners on or he doesn't.

He either delivers in that spot or he doesn't.

There wasn't a common indicator of clutch in their study. There are just really good players that come up in really big spots and get a hit. Just interesting because many on BYB treat "clutch" like its the 6th tool. The reason for the article was that we can see, measure, and forecast the 5 tools. They don't have such for "clutch". The player has already committed/signed/played by the time clutch is seen so it isn't drafted or recruited like power/average/speed/arm/glove.
