Trump knew Flynn lied to the FBI per his own tweet. So he knew he was interferring with an actual crime when he asked Comey to dinner, requested him to let the Flynn thing go, and then fired Coney.

Now the defense is the President can't obstruct justice? Well a president can definitely be impeached for it.
