Today matched Chris Holba (Purple) vs Willy Strong (Black)
I mostly kept up with the Purple team Batting as they appeared to have what would be the starters.
Lineup was as follows and it was more of a Power lineup as Cliff talked about last year
1. Dwanya - CF (1-4 w/Double ((hardest hit ball all day)) also Fly out to the wall LCF)
2. Brown - SS (1-3 single, walk and RBI)
3. Packard - LF (1-4 Double with RBI also Hit one to LCF wall)
4. Brickhouse - 1B (1-4 single with RBI)
5. Jenkins - RF (1-3 single)
6. Washer - C (1-3 Single)
7. Litton - 3B (0-2 walk, just got under one high fly to LF)
8. Lloyd - 2B (0-3)
9. Whitehead - DH (1-3 single)
Nick Barber was the best player on the field today. 2 hits and 4 RBI also 2 of the 3 best plays defensively.
Burleson robbed another double by Packard down the line. Also with a runner on first faked throw back to Pitcher and picked off runner. Burleson has to start! I have been going to games for 10 years at ECU and he is the most advanced hitter I have seen as a Freshman.
Holba did not have any control issues and velocity was his normal self 87-89 topping 91. Pitched 3 innings. Had 2 k's 0 walks. Every ball hit was on the ground except one line drive to CF by Baker. Everything was hit up the middle for the most part. Defensive shifts on lefty hitters saved 2 hits. Gave up 4 hits with 3 of them in the 3rd. The only run he gave up.
The best pitcher I have seen this Spring has been Tyler Smith he has really pitched well. Benton, Agnos and Holba have all been around 87-89. Agnos topped at 92.
I really dont know what Cliff does with Burleson, Packard and Jenkins. 3 bodies for 2 spots. Most likely will rotate with whatever guy is seeing it the best.
Nick Barber is going to really challenge Lloyd. Both are doing well.
Kuchmaner pitched well for Purple averaged 85-86 good location and works quickly.
